The look of fine tableware, made for real life.

Why We Use 100% Melamine

Melamine lets us create pieces that look like porcelain or stoneware, but hold up to everyday use, entertaining, and the occasional bump or drop. Here’s what it is, why we use it, and how to get the best life out of your Q Home tableware.

What Is Melamine?

Melamine is a durable resin that can be molded into strong, beautifully shaped tableware. When it’s used in its pure form, without added fillers, it creates a smooth surface and substantial feel that’s very different from flimsy plastic plates.

At Q Home, We Use:

  • 100% melamine resin in our classic white and patterned collections
  • A melamine–bamboo blend in our Potter and Terrazzo collections, for a more stoneware-inspired look

Did you know?

Many mass-market melamine dishes are blended with fillers like urea or chalk, which can reduce overall quality, make pieces feel thinner or chalky, and create uncertainty about exactly what's in the dishes you're eating from.
That's what gives our tableware its polished appearance, substantial feel, and consistent quality.
